| | Pardon my Arabic, but I can't believe that Ron Paul actually had to propose a fucking Constitutional amendment to make the Federal government obey the Constitution's strict enumeration of powers. As my wife puts it, "That blows."
One would think that the Ninth and Tenth Amendments, which have been part of the Bill of Rights for centuries, would be enough to keep the pigs in Washington in their pen.
"The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people."
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
I read these to my wife, and explained their meanings in modern English, and she was flabbergasted that the federal government gets away with ignoring them. She's more of an American than most of the native-born "citizens" I know. (Edited by Matthew Graybosch on 9/23, 4:05pm)
