I hereby volunteer to help the administrators with the upkeep of SOLO's profile photo's.  I know things are busy, but it has been 3 months since I've submitted a photo and I've heard that others here have done the same.  This is not an idle jab, I'm serious; if at all possible I would be happy to help out.

I just sent Joe a super tiny and easy to use program that automatically formats images just the way he likes 'em. He has no excuse not to instantly approve images of members with >50 atlas icons. Also, hell, why not allow everyone to change their image all the time? It's that easy for him to accept images now.

-- Given that he can install DevIL and a few common image libraries on SOLO's web server.

Hey, don't harass me.  Jeff's in charge of pictures.  Division of labor, and all that.

Joe-
You're always pushing the blame off on someone else.

Yes, that was just a joke.  I knew Jeff handled them.  Dean brings up a great idea though in that with the existing software out there just let people manage their own pics in their profile.  Good suggestion Dean.

Hmmm... maybe you could charge a fee for people who want to change their picture within X seconds of the last time they changed their picture. I don't know if that could be considered a donation though. Maybe you could, if you say it is a "Donation to pay for bandwidth" etc...

Stupid taxes and non-profit crap.

Dear Joe, it's time to change yours too. That angelic face of yours doesn't match
the tank right beneath it. (:-))

Seriously though, I sent in a new non-squinty (TM)  picture and would love to see it posted :-)

I recommend Image Magic, or Gimp. You can give them command-line arguements. You can run them off a Linux Live CD too.

The oldest picture I have in my mail box is from 7/31. That's 5 days over a month and a half... come on, I'm not as bad as 3 months. I've been really busy, but OK, I guess I'll do some pictures...

PS, for the future, if people would send me pictures that are 80x100 black and white JPG's under 5k, that would really make it more convenient for me =)

Jeff-
Thanks for that advice.  Of course my next question though was going to be why no color photo's, and why no full body shots of our women in nothing but...nevermind.  Thanks for the job you do.  I know you stay busy and it truly is appreciated.  You help to make SOLO the great site that it is!

For those that don't want to resort to linux for free photo software, Google's Picasa has basic image editing too, or MS Photo Editor if you have WinXP. http://picasa.google.com

Picasa rocks for picture sorting too!

I should add Image Magic is free, and does Windows:
http://www.imagemagick.org/script/index.php
http://sourceforge.net/projects/imagemagick

Its a command-line program, no pretty GUI, but for resizing and modifying lots of pictures, batch-processing, it may be the best thing.

Gimp is also free and does Windows. It has a GUI, but the learning curve to do batch processing appeared formidable.
