| | Very true, Tibor. Well said.
And, when the productivity-poverty equation is brought to their attention they spout on about "give a man a fish and you feed him for a day but teach him how to fish and you feed him for life" then offer up supposedly rational solutions like installing pumps, generators, new buildings, etc. into subsistence economies, as if that's really going to help. Fact is, the aid organisations will have to come back every few years to replace the infrastructure they've installed because the people they've given it to have no means to *replace capital* equipment. Christ, they can barely feed & clothe themselves.
You see the same effect in welfare blighted areas where all income is spent on consumption, but houses, cars, appliances, furniture, etc. wear out & people actually become *poorer* over time. On a massive scale, witness the Soviet Union.
