Poignant & KASS-gutsy, PC. Very well done. The Bolsheviks' commandeering of what could have been a true revolution was an atrocity/tragedy of cosmic moment. The grotesquely funny thing was the heralding of a Marxist revolution in circumstances which Marx himself would have said made the revolution historically premature.

Why does no one under that r.e.g.ime deny the greatness, glory, and correctness of the  c[o]mm[u]n[i]st  re-vo-lut-ion? When reading p-ro-pa-ganda of c[o]mm[u]n[i]st reg-im-es, you can find a strong suggestion that the c[o]mm[u]n[i]st p-art-ies are intrinsically the le-ader of the nation, even if they are not in po-wer. Although the Oc-tober revo-l-ution was just an intrigue of usurping the fruit of the February re-vol-ution, yet it was a "genuine" re-volu-tion. As to the February re-volut-ion, that was just a "foreshadowing for the Oct-ober re-vol-ution". "His-tor-ical mat-er-ial-ism" told the people the history process has an unalterable law. It is that law makes the c[o]mm[u]n[i]st pa-r-ti-es seize power. So when c[o]mm[u]n[i]st par-ti-es are not in po-wer, citizens are permitted (by c[o]mm[u]n[i]st parties) to do whatever they want to oppose the go-ver-nm-ent. The more fiercely you oppose the gov-er-nme-nts of your own nation, the more pat-ri-otic you are. But when the c[o]mm[u]n[i]st par-ti-es conquer the former go-vern-ments and found new ones, you are not permitted to say any critical words of the new g-ove-rnme-nts. No matter how relevant your critiques are; you are the "enemy of the people" and "traitor", and more importantly, "violator of the natural rules". I think the lib-erta-rian thinkers should find a way to eliminate this meaningful phenomenon.

Ross, I'm not sure if you knew, but "femino" explained in her first post why she types some keywords like that.

Great article, Peter.

Sadly, America is inundated by movies and books that glorify the communist revolution. I wish your article appeared in a major US newspaper or TV show.

Mad magazine presented a humorous article on the USSR which began with the revolution. It explained the two revolutions thusly:
In the first, the peasants revolted against the Czars. In the second, the communists revolted against the peasants. The result was a truly revolting government.

Thanks, Byron. No, I hadn't seen that post.

If Femino's doing that to avoid triggering some state censorship mechanism then I perfectly understand.

It sure is annoying though. I'm sure there is software that will bypass the problem...?

Thanks for the welcome back.  No, I'm stationed in Naples, Italy now.  I'll be here for at least the next two years.  I came back from deployment recently and I was up for shore duty.

Bad is bad enough without making things up. And making things up has the unfortunate consequence of weakening otherwise validly supported conclusions. I think this article comes out on the wrong side of these observations, but public school history lessons may be instructing my view....so tell me if I'm mistaken. But....
The Bolsheviks were liars.

It wasn't the Bolsheviks that swept away the Czar in a heroic seizure of power
Article fails to say what the Bolsheviks were lying about. Are we to assume they claimed some part in deposing the Tzar and are we to assume that they did not? It was a short enough article- there was room enough to pop that important little bit of data into the history lesson maybe?
The Bolsheviks were pissweak.
The Bolsheviks used this and that and these and those....I'm impressed. Sounds like these guys were pulling all the right strings the way PC tells it. This "pissweak" word perhaps is a badly translated word from the original Cyrillic and a better translation would be "KASS".
The Bolsheviks were murderers.

When the killing ended nearly three-quarters-of-a-century later, 62 million Russians had been murdered
Doubtless Joeseph Stalin's regime murdered over the course of 75 years, I'll just bet it did. However, that would make Stalin a murderer, not the Bolsheviks and not the Bolsheviks of the pertinent time period.

Article fails to say what murdering was done by the Bolsheviks in their revolusion. Are we to assume that their revolution was resisted and that those who were obstacles to the revolution were murdered? It was a short enough article- there was room enough to pop a bit in there about this "bloody fate" of  Kerensky and the Provisional Government into the history lesson maybe?
The Bolsheviks were pissweak murdering liars.
Kinda hard to see it that way from Creswell's telling though, is it not?

But don't let's allow fact to get in the way of stepping on Lefties for false reasons or let history get in the way of telling stories.
