Poetry

Kim #4
by Scott D. DeSalvo

Your honesty and truth, worn like a gown,
Befit your strength and true fidelity
To bear what must be borne without a frown,
And in such strength, you show felicity.

You have such wit and charm, which can't be hid,
Nor could one hide the laughter you inspire.
And wiser counsel kings have never bid,
Advice which any sane man would desire.

But wisdom has a price, which is to taste
The bitter fruit of pain and ugliness,
Yet you remain in sweet, untarnished place,
Forgiving, kind, in seeming happiness.

How can I help but love and seek to touch
So great a woman I respect so much?
